About Stephen Blackadder
Stephen’s career has spanned 20 years of leadership as a Chief Executive in Local Government and over 17 years as Managing Director of Blackadder Associates, and now leading his new venture, Stephen Blackadder Consulting. In that period Stephen has supported councils in every State of Australia, providing independent advice that strengthens governance, refines leadership strategies, and builds cohesive, high-performing executive teams. Now with SBC, Stephen brings his depth of experience of Local Government to Mayors and Councillors and Executive Staff teams, offering practical solutions tailored to the unique dynamics of local government today.
His contemporary thinking, backed by experience gained in his CEO roles, his clarity in decision-making and ability to build strong governance foundations, is a priceless supplement to the conventional approach applied by many. He has personally recruited over 160 local government and not for profit sector CEOs. He has proudly worked with Executive Teams to build their resilience, performance and relationships and to help operate effectively under pressure, tackle complex challenges, and improve organisational performance. SBC’s approach is straightforward and responsive, helping councils make impactful changes that align with both community and council objectives.
